1. Yahweh is with Joseph in Potiphar’s house. (1–6)

2. Joseph turns away from evil. (7–12)

3. An evil report turns Joseph toward prison. (13–20)

4. Yahweh is with Joseph in the king’s prison. (21–23)

Genesis 38

Big Idea: Legacy comes from self-sacrificing righteousness, not self-preservation. 

1.      Judah seeks to preserve his legacy wrongly. (1–11)

2.      Tamar seeks to preserve legacy deceptively. (12–23) 

3.      Judah recognizes his lack of righteousness. (24–26)

4.      Judah’s legacy (and Israel’s?) is secured. (27–30)
